constructive criticism and suggestions are warmly welcomed :) thank you so much for your support so far! it's truly been amazing and i don't deserve it <3
anyways, you'll notice that i filed this photo under "Lifestyle and Culture" instead of "People and Portraits". (this falls more under 'Culture' than Lifestyle btw, haha). this is because this is what is traditionally done at Chinese tea ceremonies (held before the wedding) - the couple has to eat something called a "tang yuan". it's a round thing that's made of glutinous rice flour and is usually filled with a flavoured paste (either peanut or sesame). i personally love eating the sesame one :D it's really really yummy.
i can't remember the significance of eating the 'tang yuan', and couldn't seem to find it online either. perhaps i'll ask my parents and give you the answer in my next update! or maybe someone here knows...? lol.

I must say the colour has more impact than the B&W. The festive occasion comes out well here.

The colours are great - its not easy with white wedding dresses i imagine but there is so much detail here.
27 Jul 2007 3:44am
The details in this portrait are wonderful.

great series! I really like the expressions of this one! lot of complicity!
27 Jul 2007 8:18am
Haa... tang yuan...yummy! haaaa Well Tang Yuan means "yuan yuan man man" , meaning togetherness if i did not interpret wrongly. Nice colors... got some 1 cent view again... would a landscape shot be better here? closing in on the actions and expression, removing distracting objects like the flowers? ;)
27 Jul 2007 10:24am
@Anthony: oic. haha not sure, i haven't asked my parents yet. (: anyways, if you realised i actually cropped this? :) removed some distracting stuff at the top and bottom... and the landscape shots i had had far more distracting stuff around =s but maybe i'll try cropping those too and see how it goes. thanks~

Lovely shot Alicia, i like this one. In this shot romance is in the air. The skin tones are good, except the groom's hand which requres a little photoshop to match his facial color. I don't know if you noticed it. :p
In this shot the straight angle is cool, but i would have prefered the camera to be slightly up so as to bring out groom's smile too. ;-) Wedding photography is tricky, and the trick is - shoot in continuous bursts with different angles. Cheers!!!! and have a great weekend.

@Rahul: but his face is naturally reddish... ): haha. i'll see what i can do. well i wanted to stand up but if i had i would've been blocking the official guy :p wouldn't want to do that now would we? xD
Besides the great images you share, there's this other aspect that I love : to learn about a culture, through the comments you make. One completing the other...

I wonder if I can talk my girlfriend into doing that for me when I am watching football on TV. She'll probably want me to spoon feed her during 'Desperate Housewives' or any other of those shows.
